With the conclusion of the Dark Days, Panem has begun a new era of prosperity and peace. In order to keep the districts in line, to ensure that the bloody atrocities of war will never occur again, the government has proposed the Hunger Games, to punish the districts for their sins. The victor of each game will be rewarded with fame, wealth and so much more, a symbol of triumph amid darkness, violence and sacrifice.

Almost a year has elapsed after victory of 18 year old Shiloh Katz from District 8, the reaping of the 4th Annual Hunger Games creeping around the corner.
