Tucked on an island north of the Netherlands, a long running institute welcomes those not quite like the rest. Tovenanij Institute of the Arcane Arts teaches and guides the young minds of the supernatural world. The Institute has been around for centuries, though the Headmaster refuses to share just how long it's been up and running.

The Institute facilitates four years of studies. It welcomes students from all continents starting at the age of 18 up until the age of 24. Depending on their chosen major, students are sorted into one of seven Houses: Arcanum, Nocturna, Astralis, Mythos, Sapientia, Veritas, and Caedes. Each house has its own specialty and intent, their values and virtues prominent in each member.

This server takes place in a universe/multiverse separate from any specific cannon. Its cannon is its own, though we will be pulling primarily from the films. Personally, I am very interested in exploring a world that functions much like the setting we see in "Logan" with a more grounded feel, though we will likely be pulling character backgrounds and histories from comics, other movies, etc to fill in blanks.

As for the timeline, this rp will be taking place during the beginning of the fall semester of 2015. Keep that in mind when filling out your character sheet, as well as when rping, since the culture and technology will be from about ten years ago.

We are a server set during Harry Potter's fourth year. The same year as the Tri-Wizard Tournament. We are canon compliant 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧, and by that I mean, we follow the canon timeline to a degree. Think of the series as a sort of a crafting tutorial that we're following, it's not going to be exactly how everything happens, but it'll be kind of like it. 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘥𝘫𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵, is how we like to call it. As an example, whoever chooses to claim Viktor Krum may not want to take Hermione Granger to the Yule ball, and that's perfectly fine. The story takes place in a fictional planetary system known as Exalos, conquered by humanity around a century ago to build the first Dyson sphere. After successfully constructing the megastructure around the parent star, it helped accelerate humanity's progress for decades. However, the Dyson sphere collapsed under unknown circumstances, ending the unlimited supply of energy. What materialized from the collapsed megastructure was an enormous black hole that began to bend reality around it, manifesting monsters known as Voided Entities that started attacking the only habitable planet in the Exalos system: Alphon-VII.

The colony responsible for the construction of the Dyson sphere, known as the Alphon Administration, then abruptly lost contact with its imperial authority. The realms were once more diverse and prosperous than they are now. Back then— only five percent of the population actually faced severe poverty, with little to no wars conflicting the realms into a bout, so rulers were free to focus on success rather than destruction. That was until the fight for magical resources became scarce, and the art of wizardry nearing its final descent into extinction. Some of the realms like Mythllhand rather have Nancledra focus on the enlightenment of wizardry and mystical education, while many conservative realms like Bellstar argued that they should continue their concentration on the general environment. Soon this snowballed into more differences, like Alenrac refusing to aid refugees of the coming wars or Bellstar becoming a militarized realm that execute assumed criminals without due process. These differences in the realms led to what is now known as “The Wars of Sticks & Stones”. What happened next to the community was…horrifying. *continued in the server.*

Pikebitter asylum, this server is set in the early 2000s in a mental hospital in Vermont. Pikebitter is infamous for it's cruel treatment of patients and sadistic staff although it seems nothing ever gets done about it. That's cause everyone who has any power to stop it is given a handsome amount of money to keep their mouths shut. To make matters worse Pikebitter takes contracts to perform illegal and immoral experiments on their patients, some of which are perfectly sane, or at least they were when they got here!
